Urination, frequent
Also known as urinary frequency, passing of urine more often than the usual four to six times a day.
Causes of frequent urination include excessive production of urine, anxiety, stones in the bladder, cystitis (inflammation of the bladder), enlargement of the prostate gland, in men, and hardly ever a bladder tumour. In adding to this some people who are suffering from kidney failure pass urine more often, particularly during the night. A temporary increase in frequency can result from consuming caffeinated or alcoholic drinks.
Treatment of frequent urination is always targeted at the underlying cause.
