Acrodermatitis enteropathica

A rare inherited disorder in which (most commonly areas of the skin such as the: fingers, toes, scalp, and the areas around the anus and the mouth) are ulcerated, reddened and covered with pustules (pus filled spots).

Acrodermatitis enteropathica is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner and is due to the incapacity to absorb sufficient zinc from food. The zinc supplements often bring about a fast improvement.
