Cardiac asthma

Trouble in breathing that is comparable to asthma but is the result of pulmonary oedema (fluid on the lungs); the oedema, in turn, is due to heart failure (the inability of the heart to cope with its workload). Attacks of cardiac asthma mainly occur at night. This disorder is not to be confused with bronchial asthma, as they are not related and require different treatment.
