Heartburn
An intense burning pain in the middle of the chest, which can travel from the tip of the breast bone up to the throat. Heartburn is usually brought on by bending forwards or lying down. It can also be caused by drinking alcohol, overeating, or eating rich or spicy foods. Persistent heartburn is a symptom of oesophagitis (inflammation of osephagus), which is often brought on by gastro-oesphageal reflux disease.
