Lid lag

A momentary delay in the usual downward movement of the upper eyelids that arises when the eye looks downward. Lid lag is a characteristic feature of thyrotoxicosis (over activity of the thyroid gland), and generally arises in conjunction with exophthalmos (protrusion of the eyeball).
