Malar flush

A bright colour over the cheekbones, accompanied by a bluish tinge brought on by reduced oxygen concentration within the blood. Malar flush is thought to be a symptom of mitral stenosis (narrowing of one of the heart valves), which usually follows rheumatic fever. But, malar flush is not always apparent in mitral stenosis, and a lot of people with this condition do not have heart disease.
