Melanosis coli

Brown or black discolouration of the colon lining. Melanosis coli is linked with chronic constipation and prolonged use of particular laxative drugs, such as cascara, senna, and rhubarb.

The discoloration is most widespread in elderly people and is often symptomless. It goes away when the laxative are no longer being consumed. Hardly ever, it is associated with colon cancer.
