Salivation, excessive

The production of too much saliva.  Excess salivation occasionally occurs during pregnancy and before vomiting.  Other causes include mouth problems such as irritation of the mouth lining, mouth ulcers, or gingivitis (gum inflammation); digestive tract disorders such as esophagitis and peptic ulcers; and nervous system disorders such as Parkinson’s disease.  In certain cases, it can be reduced by anticholinergic drugs.
