Elder
This plant grows as a small tree or a shrub. The leaves are ovate, serrate and acuminate. The flowers grow in cymes and they are white and turn into shiny black berries.
Properties and Use
The elder is a complex plant, with all parts being used as medicine. It makes a good diuretic, purgative, emetic and diaphoretic. It has the effect of eliminating excessive water from the body, relieving potential kidney, bladder and urinary problems. It may also be used for rheumatic pains, for colds, sciatica and neuralgia.
The root from dwarf elder can be used as diuretic, purgative and promotes bile flow.
