Hawthorn

Description

This is a plant that can grow as a tree or as a shrub. The bark is grey and the stem is thorny. The leaves are palmate and serrate, the flowers are white and the fruit is a red berry.

Properties and Use

Hawthorn is used for patients with heart problems: high pressure, weakened muscle, inflammation of the myocardium or nervous heart problems. It is also good for arteriosclerosis and, because it has sedative properties, it is good for insomnia or stress.
