American Centaury

This plant grows once every two years, up to a height of 1 or 2 feet and it is encountered on damp and rich soils almost all over the US.  The leaves are small and grow opposite from each other and the flowers are pink.

Properties and use:

American Centaury is used as a tonic, febrifuge and vermifuge. It is indicated during periods of convalescence and for dyspepsia.

Also known as: Bitterbloom, wild succory, red centaury.
