Betony

This is a perennial plant that grows in most places, from gardens to wild places. The root sends up a straight hairy stem on which sessile serrate pointy and hairy leaves grow. The flowers are quite small in size and resemble those of orchids; they are purple in colour.

Properties and Use

This plant is good for asthma and bronchitis or heartburn. Betony infusion is indicated for bladder or kidney problems.  It may also be used to eliminate intestinal worm, for treating external ulcers or sores.

Also known as: Lousewort
